The Red Blazer Restaurant & Pub opened on March 13th, 2000 under the management of the current owners Anesti, Sarandis and Pedro. Over the last 17 years the facility has been transformed into what it is today a very far cry from Hicken’s Clam Bar that opened in 1939. Over the many years and various owners the property has served many generations of patrons and many varieties of food and beverage.
In 1972 the most impactful change to the property was made that most people associate with this special facility; the addition of what is today our Main dining room. The post and beam structure along with the beautiful two story field stone fireplace is what most people remember when thinking of the Red Blazer and the Peanut pub. Back then peanut shells were thrown on the floor and contributed to the atmosphere that many still talk about today.
In 2002 just a few years after our management team took over the Red Blazer would take on the next dramatic change more than doubling the square footage of the restaurant with an aim to modernize various spaces and add new bathrooms, prep kitchen, lower pub and our two function spaces the fox den and Highland room on the second floor.
Since 1939 the property was host to several various dining formats everything from the original clam bar to a popular watering hole with bands playing every night of the week. The property was once also a home to a bakery, I have little evidence other than patrons sharing their stories. The original Red Blazer was established somewhere in the early 70’s from what information I have gathered. The longest reign as the Red Blazer was from about 1982 through 1995 and arguably the management that put the property on the map moving away from a drinking place to a eating place. During this period the Blazer was best known for their Sunday Brunch.
In 1995 through early 2000 the Landmark Restaurant made this property their home moving from their long time home on the corner of South Street and Clinton Street in Concord.
In March of 2000 we would rekindle the Red Blazer name and transform the property into what is here today. With now the longest reign we are proud of the name and reputation we have built on the back of this very special property. Today we have taken bits and pieces of what made the Red Blazer special in the past. We are proud to serve the very best food and beverage, we serve a very popular Sunday Breakfast Buffet, our popular Peanut Pub is still serving up peanuts and our in house bakery is producing some of the best cakes and desserts you will find.
